The Shanghai Stadium (上海体育场) is a multi-use stadium in Shanghai, China. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium was built in 1997 when the 8th National Games of People's Republic of China was held in Shanghai. It can hold about 80,000 people, so it is also called the "80,000 people's Stadium"(八万人体育场). It is probably one of the thirty largest football stadiums in the world, and is the second largest stadium in China after the Beijing National Stadium. It has been used for football preliminaries at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
